Our law firm was founded in 1911 by E. G. Scotten and Judge John Rufus Hinshaw, under the name Scotten and Hinshaw. As the founders retired and the firm grew, our name changed to Hayes Copenhaver Crider, LLC. R. Scott Hayes is listed in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers and has been selected as an Indiana SuperLawyer. He is board certified as a civil trial advocate and has 35 years of legal experience. He is the primary attorney handling family law and child custody cases. He also takes cases in personal injury and commercial law and litigation.

With more than 30 years of experience, David L. Copenhaver has developed a diverse legal practice. He is the primary attorney handling municipal law (for the city of New Castle, the town of Middletown, and the Henry County Health Department) and real estate transactions and zoning work. He also handles family law matters and is certified as a civil mediator and a family law mediator.

Gregory L. Crider has been practicing law for more than 25 years, primarily in the area of estate planning and probate matters. He is a certified estate planning and estate administration specialist. He also handles uncontested adoptions in family court. He represents several school groups (New Castle Community School Corporation and Blue River Valley School Corporation), and handles collections and foreclosure work for Ameriana Bank and East Central Indiana Federal Credit Union.

Associate attorney Joel E. Harvey works extensively in civil court and handles appellate court matters.

Associate attorney Greg J. Crider is a public defender in Superior Court (criminal court). He assists with collections matters.
